Moments, Fragments
missed call, my sister’s name on the screen.
she never calls.
nervous, I dial.
rushed lunch in the sun
relief is slowly melting
AC-frozen feet
last five minutes
spent shifting, organizing
desperate to leave now
on a busy day
I need to slack off harder
hurry, waste some time
A few senryu for this week’s ReadWritePoem’s prompt.

i am loving the new look of your page. sorry i have been away from the scene for a few weeks. i am back now. the fragments made me think of twitter poetry. very short thoughts. i love it.
Welcome back. I’ve been writing on identi.ca instead of twitter lately, but same principle.
I’m happy your’re still writing this summer, too.
nice series of moments captured
p is for procrastination. I can relate.
Excellent work. I love the rhythm and attitude of the last one especially.
You have captured moments from modern life in a way I can completely understand. From frozen feet to the caller ID, great!
“I need to slack off harder” Amen to that!
Well captured moments..
plunging in the tunneled abyss
Great job capturing little moments in the day!
great moments, especially the last one! i’m an expert in procrastination so this feels like it was written for me. :)
“I need to slack off harder /
hurry, waste some time”
What an excellent, unexpected moment!
the third moment happens to me often — wanting to finish up and leave quickly, before somebody can come along and give me “one more quick thing to do” :-)
Such a nice juxtaposition of moments. I like the gentle, softly self-deprecating humor that prevades the poem.
Like everyone else, I love ‘hurry, waste some time’…
I don’t think we ever spend enough time just slowing down and enjoying life.
